How are an Entrepreneur and a Start-up Defined?

The Miriam Webster Dictionary[i] defines an entrepreneur as “one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise”. It notes that the term “entrepreneur” may refer to one who “starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money”, and to one with unique qualities such as far-sightedness and innovation. By the 21st century, an entrepreneur was considered a go-getter and an independent business owner, a quality reflected in the phrase: Entrepreneurial spirit.  Startup statistics in this book are based on a company in business less than a year.
